Meet Sales Executive, Connor Stobart

Connor, a Sales Executive on our London team, shares what drew him to the payments industry and what it’s like working at Fire.

Hello Connor! How long have you been with the company?

I’ve been with Fire since Q1 2024 and recently hit my one-year milestone.

Can you tell us about your role and what it involves?

I’m part of the Sales team, managing the entire sales cycle, from networking and prospecting to contracts and implementation, supporting businesses in optimising their payment processes. I help drive new business growth with corporate and enterprise clients, while also managing key relationships and strategic partnerships to support long-term success.

What aspects of your role as a Sales Executive do you find most fulfilling?

It’s being able to offer solutions that genuinely help businesses operate more efficiently and scale with confidence.

What has been the most exciting challenge you’ve worked on so far?

In sales, we’re constantly engaging with new and exciting businesses, each with their own unique challenges to solve, and that variety is what keeps the role so dynamic. That said, one of the most exciting challenges for me personally is working with clients who need fast, effective solutions for FX, as it’s an area I’m particularly interested in.

What’s your background, and what made you want to join a company like Fire?

I studied Finance at university and have always had a strong interest in the fintech space. Before joining Fire, I worked in the FX industry. The opportunity to join a company like Fire appealed to me because it allowed me to broaden my expertise and gain experience in areas such as APIs and open banking.

If you had to describe the culture in three words, what would they be?

Supportive, expert, diverse.

What do you enjoy most about working in the payments industry?

The opportunity to learn about the many different areas within the ecosystem. It’s interesting to understand how everything connects — and how we can play a part in making those processes more efficient and impactful for businesses.

And outside of work, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I’ve always been into fitness and love playing or watching football, as well as darts. That said — contradictory as it may sound — if I’m not doing that, you’ll probably find me in the pub. It’s all about balance!

Any unusual or quirky skills or fears you’d like to share?

I wouldn’t say it’s unusual, but not many people know that I play multiple instruments and sometimes sing as well.
