Meet Product Analyst, Annabel Toal

Product Analyst, Anna, is a member of our Dublin team. We caught up with her to learn about her experience working at Fire and what led her to the payments industry.

How long have you been part of the team, Anna?

I joined Fire in August 2022, so I have been with the company for two years now and just celebrated my 2-year workiversary! 

Could you describe your role?

As a Product Analyst at Fire, I’m involved in ensuring our product meets our customers’ needs and complies with regulations. My role involves researching new product concepts and actively participating in the project delivery journey to bring them to market successfully.

What are the most fulfilling aspects of your position?

It’s rewarding to be part of a team dedicated to introducing innovative solutions while also being enthusiastic about enhancing our internal processes.

What project has been the most exciting for you to work on?

I’d say the most exciting challenge would be the concept I am currently working on. I’m currently looking at how we can enhance our onboarding journey. Coming from an operations background, I understand how internal processes can sometimes be frustrating! It’s exciting to be looking at solutions to the problems I once faced while improving the experience for our customers.

Tell me a bit about your career path and why you chose Fire.

I studied International Relations in DCU and got a job at one of Ireland’s largest Banks straight out of college, where I worked for four years. I sort of just found myself in the banking and financial services sector but have grown a great understanding and passion for the industry. When I had the opportunity to join the team at Fire, I was excited about the prospect of working with a growing fintech. It was a different experience from what I was used to, but I was eager to be part of a company making a significant impact on the industry. I have just recently joined the Product team here at Fire. I was previously working with our Operations team and dealt mainly with customer onboarding. It’s been great having the opportunity to grow my career within Fire and that the team have been supportive of this.

Describe the company culture in three words.

Supportive, innovative, hardworking.

What excites you most about the payments sector?

I love hearing about how payment solutions have helped people and organisations in their everyday lives. It’s an exciting time for the industry with new ways of paying and getting paid evolving.

How do you like to unwind outside of the office?

I’m a bit of a health enthusiast and can often be found trialling a new recipe, out for a run or at a spin class. When I’m not poisoning my loved ones with my latest concoctions, I’m listening to some good music or spending time with friends.

Do you have any hidden talents or unusual hobbies?

I’m a terrible sleep talker and often wake my partner babbling nonsense – usually about the latest book I’m reading.
